After a successful run as manager and valet of the MNM tag team, Melina focused on her singles career, in which she pinned Mickie James to win her first Women's Championship. Melina was always characterized by her screaming, which was tagged "the primal scream". Melina allied with Beth Phoenix at a time, eventually they turned on each other, escalating in the first "I Quit" match at One Night Stand 2008 (Beth won). Ever since her debut, Melina has dealt with a handful of adversaries, but has performed greatly in each. Melina recently won the WWE Divas Championship, in which she gave former champion Jillian Hall the shortest title reign in history.

Immediately after being traded from SmackDown to RAW, Melina made an impression and defeated Jillian Hall for her Divas Championship.
